CONCLUSIONS: Dysregulated cellular iron uptake/availability may be a shared mechanism in myocardial structural/functional impairment, reduced exercise capacity, and restricted haematopoiesis in heart failure, which are worse in patients with anaemia, and improve with empagliflozin.
