SAMD9 and SAMD9L (SAMD9/9L) are paralogous genes encoding antiviral proteins that negatively regulate cell proliferation. Heterozygous germline gain-of-function (GoF) SAMD9/9L variants cause multisystem syndromes with variable manifestations.
